What began in a remote community within the Sierra Madre mountain range has become a point of pride for all of Mexico. Huichol art consists of colorful, vibrant patterns generally made with beads, tiles, paint, or yarn. The patterns convey meaning and every design has cultural significance. Huichol artwork is meant to ensure prosperity, health, and bountiful crops. The designs promote the general welfare of the people and bring vibrancy to the entire community.

Cinco de Mayo

Throughout the United States, Cinco de Mayo is seen as a day to enjoy Mexican culture, traditions and food. It’s a time to drink, dance, and celebrate the flavor of Mexico.

In Mexico, however, Cinco de Mayo isn’t just a celebration, it’s a commemoration of valor on the battlefield. On May 5th, 1862, an outnumbered Mexican army faced a formidable French army. Against all odds, they emerged victorious at the Battle of Puebla – a battle that represents a great symbolic victory for all of Mexico.

So, no matter how you celebrate Cinco de Mayo, raise a glass to the Fighting Spirit that pushes us forward.
