Mexico City Michelada

This michelada is inspired by the vibrant array of fruits available at tianguis, or open-air markets. Begin with prickly pear juice, then add modelo negra for a beer cocktail that’s sweet and refreshing.

Mexico City Michelada

Ingredients

  • Kosher salt
  • Dried Jamaica (Hibiscus) flower (Available in your ethnic aisle)
  • 1 bottle Modelo Negra®
  • 1 oz. prickly pear puree
  • 1 oz. lime juice
  • Prickly pear round for garnish

Directions

Step 1: Grind in a spice grinder dried Jamaica flower.

Step 2: Add equal parts Kosher salt.

Step 3: Fill a salted glass halfway with ice.

Step 4: Add lime juice and prickly pear puree.

Step 5: Top with beer.
